Alternatives to Damn

Hmmm...I just realised my last 2 posts start with "Damn". I wasn't even aware it was part of my vocabulary, but maybe it's because in real life it would probably be replaced by me muttering something uncouth and unpublishable, or general whining.

I need some alternatives...What's another good expression for "Damn"?

Forgotten birthdays and other stories (namely Melbourne ones)

Damn! These days you cannot get away with anything. Previously I got into trouble for not calling people back, forgetting birthdays, leaving wet clothes in the washing machine, palming off my quarterly BAS, forgetting to pay my credit card bill…New to this list is I now am getting into trouble for not writing new blogs. Whilst often I complain that my life is like a stagnant pond where nothing happens, the reason I haven’t written is that I have been too busy doing all of the forgetting mentioned above (sorry I forgot your birthday ODL, and yes Visa man you can stop calling now)…Go figure!

I did manage to squeeze in a whirlwind day trip to Melbourne last week for a tiny bit of work, a lovely dinner with my brother (for an early birthday, which I then forgot to call him for a few days later!...sorry little bro), and some much needed wandering about a most inspiring city. Top of my list of things to do was visit the National Gallery Victoria and see the Art Deco Exhibition. I very much recommend everyone who loves Art Deco to get down there with some comfortable shoes on and a spare $45 for the exhibition catalogue. It is a brilliant collection of Art Deco in all its manifestations – everything from electrical appliances, haute couture, architecture, furniture, fabrics and even an entire building foyer (revolving door and all)! It cleverly explored and showcased the influences behind the aesthetic of this period, which inspired the hell out of me. Even the installation out the front of the NGV was inspiring as you can see from my picture.

Also on my list of things to do was visit my favourite jewellery store on Gertrude St, Metal Couture (www.metalcouture.com). The store looks great with its picture frame display cabinets and sumptuous red walls. But forget the fit out…the jewellery is amazing! I love it all. William Llewellyn Griffiths appears to be some sort of eccentric genius and his work is delicate yet hugely chunky, intricate yet powerful, and just a little bit evil. I am not a huge jewellery wearer and so far I have only purchased small dainty pieces. I am working up to getting something bigger though, hopefully this pirate inspired necklace. Ahoy me hardies!

Don't worry, I will not sport an eye patch as fashion. But I will say "Arrrr" a lot.

See yaaarr later me matey.
